BLED

Slovenia has only one island but its uniqueness makes it more attractive than many an archipelago. Sheltered by picturesque mountains, the island reigns in the middle of an Alpine lake. Its charm has made it a symbol for centuries of a town to which guests from all over the world love to return. This town, which has already existed for a thousand years, is BLED.
The area of the Julian Alps is enclosed by two beautiful lakes. The resort town of Bled, with its legendary island in the middle of the lake and its clifftop castle, its hot springs and its pleasant climate, has been attracting cosmopolitan visitors for centuries. Bathing establishments, footpaths, tennis courts, golf courses, a casino, the sports airfield in Lesce and nearby sights of natural and cultural interest provide plenty more reasons for a visit. Not far from the lake is Blejski Vintgar, the remarkable natural gorge of the river Radovna.
