View from the room

The Kokra River carved a thirty-meter-deep gorge with almost vertical conglomerate walls through Kranj. The natural process of reforming the course of the river still continues, particularly with the crumbling and undercutting of the steep conglomerate banks, and therefore numerous boulders are characteristic in the riverbed; in the lower section even sandbanks occur. Because of the difficult access to the river, a high level of gorge?s natural original state has been preserved. The most beautiful and most characteristic views of the gorge can be enjoyed from the bridge near the post office, from the bridge on Stane Žagar Street, and from Pungert, the extreme end of the old city core.
